Yuhe Hu is a multidisciplinary storyteller .Her work investigates the entangled relationships between human and non-human agents within the context of environmental crises, climate change, and speculative futures.
Central to her practice is the concept of scale—from microscopic to macroscopic, biological to digital systems, and temporal to spatial dimensions. These shifting and interwoven scales reveal tensions between harmony and conflict, often provoking social stratifications, challenging norms, and exposing anthropocentric or subjective biases. Through critical attention to overlooked or marginalised perspectives—including non-human organisms and ecologically stigmatised species—her research redefines boundaries between subjects, narratives, and systems.
Her practice spans digital media art, sound art, interactive installations, and bio-design, constructing immersive environments that translate abstract ecological and socio-political issues into tangible, affective experiences. By merging theoretical inquiry with material experimentation, she explores how technologies such as sound, data visualisation, and responsive systems can extend interspecies perception and foster renewed ecological awareness.
